Vote No Wisconsin

Wisconsin voters will be asked two questions to amend (change) the constitution on their August ballot. These potential changes will impact both the process for distributing federal money, and who has the power to make those decisions. These large sweeping changes will impact a wide range of issues voters care about, from education to the environment to how quickly the government can respond to emergencies (like a public health crisis or a natural disaster). The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin knows that if these amendments are passed they will be harmful to the people ...

THE CRITICAL NEED TO UNDERSTAND

It is rarely mentioned in US history or media that Russia – the Soviet Union – lost an estimated 27 million people to the Nazis in World War II. This is over 50 times more deaths than America suffered with the loss of 420,000. Few were the Russian families that did not grieve. It is also rarely mentioned in US history or media that Russia was far more instrumental in defeating the Nazis than America. Quoting Irish journalist Finnian Cunningham: “Still, let’s not forget that the Soviet Union had been battling the Third Reich for three years before the British ...

I am Voting NO

Vote No on Constitutional Amendment Ballot Questions this August I am voting NO on both constitutional amendment questions on the August 13, 2024 ballot, and I urge other Wisconsin residents to do the same. These amendments are meant to give the state legislature control over appropriating money, and restrict the governor’s ability to accept and allocate federal funds without the consent of the state legislature, which has proven that they do not have the best interest of Wisconsin residents in mind. The state legislature wants to hold ALL the purse strings. ...

Mom’s Story

Mom’s Story April 21, 2024 My Mom was born in 1914. From what I understand, she was born in a two-room log cabin that was part of a lumber camp in northern Wisconsin. Her parent’s borrowed some money to buy 20 acres of cut-over land to begin a small family farm in northern Wisconsin. She would tell me that they never went hungry; although, she wanted her mother to buy a box of cornflakes which they couldn’t afford. She worked hand in hand with her parents on the farm, along with three of her uncles who lived with them as the farm eventually grew to 160 ...
