According to the brief description that accompanied this photo that crossed my Facebook timeline the other day, the funeral of Pretty Boy Floyd drew the largest attendance of any such event in Oklahoma history. The image gives me goosebumps, almost puts a lump in my throat. It’s not the coffin—I can’t even discern where it is. It’s the people, backs straight, their attention focused entirely on the dead man.

SENDING MESSAGES
Two big news stories of the last week are the missile attack on Syria and the “mother of all bombs” being used in Afghanistan. The juxtaposition of these stories with the April tax filing deadline is so ironic it demands comment. These two attacks on other countries are classic examples of why we have budget problems. We will celebrate Earth Day and affirm our Support for Science on Saturday, April 22 with a march. We will start at 11 AM where the north entrance to the River Edge Walkway begins at the Wisconsin River end of Winton Street. Bring your signs and banners.
