Sounding the Alarm!!

Retired General Mark A. Milley is sounding the alarm as to how dangerous Donald Trump has become. Milley served as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for more than a year under Trump and continued in that role during President Biden’s presidency.
General Milley served more than 40 years in the military and retired in September 2023. In a retirement speech, Gen. Milley laid out his concerns regarding Trump: “We don’t take an oath to a king, or a queen, to a tyrant or dictator or a wannabe dictator.”
“By the following year, Milley was receiving a ...

May this gathering serve as an example to any other city or town in this state, to let you know, we are watching. We see what you are doing. We will not stand for it. Making it harder to vote is out of touch with Wisconsin values.

Donning a hard hat and moving a ballot box is a political stunt. The Supreme Court handed down their decision, and no one is above the law. As citizens, we are holding people who do these acts accountable. We urge all other citizens to pay attention as well.

Our democracy is stronger when all voters can cast their ballots. ...

Are we suffering from amnesia? Our climate is rapidly getting more perilous. Just look at last winter, when local economies had to grapple with lower-than-ever snowfall and higher-than-ever temperatures. And yet, Wisconsin is a dead heat in this year’s presidential election.
We need to remember. During his first year in office, then-President Trump withdrew America from the Paris Climate Agreement, joining Iran, Libya, and Yemen as the only countries to not ratify it. Two years later, Trump approved the Keystone XL Pipeline and approved rollbacks of offshore drilling ...

Mrs. Juntti was my 1st and 2nd grade teacher in a small elementary school in northern Wisconsin.
Mrs. Juntti gave me some of the greatest gifts I could ever receive. She taught me to read which opened my world to all the amazing things in life! Mrs. Juntti taught me how to write—another gift that has no measure. Mrs. Juntti gave me the gift of music. She played the piano in our small classroom as we learned to sing, America the Beautiful, God Bless America, My Country Tis of Thee, This Land is Your Land, Beautiful Dreamer, Oh! Susana, How Great Thou Art, and other ...

“As veterans, we have defended this nation with courage and honor; now we must defend it at the ballot box.” Jose Vasquez, U.S. Army Veteran and Executive Director of Common Defense.
No one and no organization speaks for all veterans. Those who have served in the military reflect a cross section of our society. Their social and political views are as diverse as any other sampling of citizens. We often stereotype veterans as being conservatives, but this is not true. There are many veterans with liberal opinions on many issues.
There are two nationwide veteran...

Look, it’s hard to blame folks who feel Washington, D.C. is disconnected and worlds away from Wisconsin. The decisions made across the country, or lack thereof, sometimes seem pointless and detached from reality. But every so often, legislation is passed that has a profoundly positive impact in the Badger State – the Inflation Reduction Act is such a moment.
We have reaped the benefits of this law. This year, Wisconsin became the first state to launch programs aimed at providing discounts for improving energy efficiency in homes. The Urban League of Greater Madison ...

On Sunday, Mayor Doug Diny removed the absentee ballot dropbox that the City Clerk had ordered to be publicly accessible outside of City Hall.

Diny’s unilateral action deserves condemnation in the strongest possible terms. The authority to make this kind of decision lies firmly with the Clerk – not the Mayor. Diny clearly overstepped the bounds of his office in taking this brazen action.

But it’s not just that. Diny justified himself by claiming the ballots that would be submitted to the dropbox wouldn’t be secure. This is a line from ...

“Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world, red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight.” We sang this song in elementary school and Sunday School when I was a kid. To this day, I believe that each and every person is precious and has a purpose in life.
The Constitution states: “We the people.” This means every child/grownup has the right to live in a safe place, be free from discrimination, to learn, work, and contribute.

Republican policies hurt people. Project 2025 provides a blueprint – and an advance warning – of the many ways Republicans intend to hurt most people and the country.
Project 2025 goes way beyond the usual Republican agenda of outlawing abortion, destroying unions, eliminating all restraints on big business and cutting taxes – again – for the wealthy. This agenda will dismantle all the social, legal, economic and environmental progress of the last 150 years. Many of the rights, protections, expectations and freedoms we currently enjoy will be eviscerated or ...
