THE PHOTO OF ONE HUNDRED SHARES
Sometimes all it takes is someone sharing a photo that draws attention. “They’re planning a mine here—not a joke.” This photo above is worth a thousand words and received one hundred shares on Facebook in very short amount of time. This photo woke sleeping giants that walk among us for the good. This mining project is slated for this year.
Anyone who has spent time in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan has seen the bountiful beauty, the waterfalls, Lake Superior, and the endless forests. The Porcupine Mountains State Park, especially the Presque Isle scenic ...
ISSUES PLUS RIGHTS EQUAL FREEDOMS
Day in and day out, our lives are impacted by decisions made by our state Supreme Court. Now, we get a say in making that court work for us. The only way to ensure that the Wisconsin Supreme Court does its job and represents our communities is to make our voices heard in the upcoming judicial election on April 4.
You might be seeing ads or reading stories about the political balance of our state Supreme Court. But this election is about more than just politics – it’s about the problems my family and yours face every day.
Our state Supreme Court may have the final ...
Freedom Is On The Ballot
“Whoever wins this election will determine whether our freedoms expand in Wisconsin, or whether our freedoms shrink in Wisconsin.” Matthew Rothschild, Wisconsin Democracy Campaign
“The Wisconsin Supreme Court spent its 2021–22 term systematically weakening our democracy...[with rulings] that had dramatic implications for how our vote counts and how our government works.” Law Forward, in a November 2022 report.
Who wins the the Wisconsin Supreme Court election on April 4 will determine the ideological direction of the court for years to come. Whether the ...
Balloons, Secrecy and Paranoia
The news last week was the Chinese invasion of the country with a balloon. As the apparently harmless balloon floated across the country it sparked a great deal of angst, speculation, misinformation and plain stupidity.
One wonders if anyone, our government leaders, the news media or the American people ever stop to think before overreacting. The Chinese spy balloon saga and the ongoing classified documents scandals are examples. Critical thinking skills are in short supply but paranoia is abundant.
Of course, the balloon was immediately branded as a “spy ...

FROM DREAM TO NIGHTMARE REALITY
I had the strangest dream last night. I dreamed that Russia and China had placed nuclear missiles and troops all along America’s northern and southern borders. Russia had armaments on the Canadian front that, should America show aggression and begin a war against Canada, in 5-7 minutes could incinerate Seattle, St. Louis, Minneapolis/St Paul, Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City, and Washington DC.
China had placed arms along the Mexican border and in 5-7 minutes could level San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Houston, Dallas, New Orleans, ...
The Social in Political/Economic Society
One of the dominate themes in American society is that of rugged individualism. Individualism is a key to American society, but it exists within social perimeters. We exist in a social environment in thought, property ownership, economy, and innovation. We are not isolated individuals carving out our lives on our own intelligence, talent, and initiative. Instead, we exist, and operate in, a functioning society. A functioning society means a legal framework, social investments, and a knowledge base that allows people and businesses to operate within consistent, and predic...

To the Superintendent and the Board of Education From a School Board Candidate
Why are you creating this overwhelming, revolutionary change in our community schools?
Your now definitive, solidified decision will create some unbearable changes for families as well as the communities here. You have given us Door Number One of your solution. Where is Door Number Two and Door Number Three?
Have you considered other solutions?
Change the boundaries. East and West would have a balance of approximately 1400 students. Eau Claire (which formerly used rivers as boundaries) has had to change boundaries a few times because ...
