Tiffany Tax Schools

This week, you are likely reviewing your property tax bill and wondering why it’s gone up – again! The short answer: Tom Tiffany and Wisconsin Republican lawmakers. Wisconsin is currently sitting on a $2.5 billion dollar surplus, in large part because state Republicans have refused to spend our property tax dollars in the way they were intended: funding our public schools.

The state’s surplus has resulted in a deficit for Wisconsin schools, whicho have not received an increase in their funding from the state for 15 years. Imagine trying to feed, clothe, and generally care for your family, all while trying to operate with a 15- year- old budget.

In an effort to finally remedy the long overdue funding shortfall, Governor Evers recently introduced a bill to return over $1.8 billion of our property tax dollars to their intended place: our local schools. However, while the bill passed the State Assembly, Tom Tiffany and his Republican cronies lobbied heavily and squashed the bill in the State Senate this May.

Why would Tiffany, who claims to support schools and Wisconsin families, choose to deny them their rightful funding and force them to ask for more money by way of local referendums? No wonder our property tax bills continue to rise. The state is double-dipping and holding out on our children.

Tiffany, who was no doubt faithfully following orders from Trump, doesn’t seem to understand that an investment in the education of our children, whether they are in Milwaukee, Madison, Bayfield, or Hudson, can provide a powerful return to the state economy. What’s worse, through his negligent, fraudulent leadership, he is holding Wisconsin families, students, and schools hostage while he robs us blind!

Tiffany’s only loyalty is to Trump, not Wisconsin residents. He’s bad for Wisconsin schools, students, families, and taxpayers.  Don’t let him steal our property taxes, blame education, and defund our schools. We deserve better!
