Social Security Turns 90

Social Security turns 90 on August 14th of this year! However, did you know….

The Social Security Commissioner is shifting about 1000 staff from processing claims to answer phones to ‘pretend’ that customer service is improving. Another attempt to fool Americans. This only takes a longer time to process claims… DUH! Time to call their bluff!! The 1-800 number at SSA is for triage, not handling cases.

Bottom line here is that congress needs to pass legislation to force THIS administration to hire enough worker to staff the Social Security Administration. Rep. John Larson (CT) has introduced bill H.R. 1876. This bill was introduced in March of this year and it is to keep the field offices open to ensure beneficiaries can still get IN PERSON help if and when needed. Passing this legislation won’t undo all the damage that Elon Musk’s DOGE has done– BUT it’s a good place to start.

You can send an email to your congressional office or if you choose please call 202-224-3121 (switchboard). You can also ask them to be a sponsor of the bill! The switchboard will connect you to your congressman– You will probably speak with staff, that is fine– just share your support for H.R. 1876. Let them know YOU want a response!
