Women for Women May Program
Women for Women
Thursday, May 2, 2024, 6 PM
Our May program will Feature Maxwell Johnson from the Wisconsin Conservation Voters.
As the Central Organizer based in Stevens Point, Maxwell empowers community members, volunteers, activists, and partner organizations to advocate for climate solutions, protect drinking water, and expand the freedom to vote at all levels of government – now and for the future.
Maxwell grew up in Rural, Wisconsin (that’s the name of my town) and spent my summers hiking the Ice Age Trail near my house or kayaking the Chain O’ Lakes and down the Crystal River.

It affects almost 80% of single women with a child under the age of 5. Add another layer to that, we are combatting a system that doesn’t acknowledge that there are people with mental and physical health conditions. Poverty is the 4th leading cause of death in this country. We live in a system of greed and power. This is plain and simple….poverty violence.
Addressing “homelessness” itself should not be the default go to when bringing up poverty, because it ...
VOTE NO ON CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT QUESTIONS
I am voting NO on both of the election-related constitutional amendment questions on April 2, and I urge other members of Marathon County to do the same.
No matter what race, background, or zip code, Wisconsinites know that voting is a fundamental right, yet a handful of politicians want to pass knee-jerk laws that affect the safety and security of our elections and will prevent voters from making their voices heard.
The first constitutional amendment question would limit critical funding for our elections without any plan to make sure election administrators have the tools they need. I support fully funded and well-run elections. That is why I ...
