Your Voice, Your Vote

It’s time to wake up Marathon County. Your voice continuously becomes smaller. What will you do when you have no voice at all? The time to speak up is now. This week WEC Republican member Dean Knudson resigned unexpectedly, citing pressure from US Senator Ron Johnson. The Wisconsin Elections Commission must elect a new chairperson this year, and under state law, that role rotates between parties. It is the Republican's turn. Fake elector Bob Spindell is the only other Republican currently eligible.  GOP legislators are calling for elections to be taken over by the Secretary of State, a partisan elected official. I don’t care which party is in ...

Women for Women Wausau

Women for Women Wausau Thursday, June 2 at 6 PM Zoom link at the bottom and also find us on Facebook! Sara Finger from the Wisconsin Alliance for Women’s Health A message from our Wisconsin Alliance for Women's Health Founder & Executive Director, Sara Finger: Now what? The draft opinion from the US Supreme Court has been leaked and we have all been awakened to how serious and real the threat to abortion access in the United States is. For those of us working daily to advocate for women's health and wellbeing, the news of a Supreme Court's draft decision to overturn Roe sadly does come as a surprise. We knew this action was ...

Union Busting is Disgusting

Union busting is not only disgusting, but also illegal. You have the right to organize in your workplace. Today several of us from the Marathon County Central Labor Council found ourselves at Starbucks in Plover. What brought us there was the illegal dismissal of a 21-year-old employee, Kolton. The reason for his termination was that he’d broken company rules by being in the back of the store while he was off the clock and being present in April after the store closed when he was off the clock. Kolton admits to this but also states the store policies are selectively enforced. Kolton and many other employees feel the dismissal was 100% fueled ...

Today I March

Today I march. I march for the women who blazed the trail before me, giving me the rights, I have. Thank you, you sacrificed so much. I am so grateful. Most of all, I march for my daughter and the girls of her generation and future generations. I march for all women, so you have the CHOICE. I march because we cannot go back. I was pleased today to see the mix of young and older alike. I was pleased to see men who support women. Citizens who understand we are living in a country that has one of the highest maternal mortality rates, no paid parental leave, and no universal, subsidized childcare. Citizens who understand that someday, someone they ...

Sunsetting Social Security

The Republican Party is running on an agenda, proposed by the National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Senator Rick Scott, which would sunset all federal legislation in five years. This means that the Republican Party is pushing an agenda that would sunset Medicare and Social Security. Shame on them! It is hard to believe Rick Scott comes from Florida where the largest population are seniors. I cannot even begin to tell you how much of a disaster this would be for American families.  Our very own Senator Ron Johnson has praised this agenda and said that it would be a good thing for our state. Does Senator Johnson really believe that sunsetting ...

Election Folly

The Republican Party of Marathon County made a request to the County Clerks office seeking information on how Wausau handled the April 5 Spring Election. They wanted to clear up any questions regarding the integrity of the Wausau election. The Marathon County GOP went as far as asking for the names of those who served as election observers, names of people submitting election results and even the internet provider. This is of course their right to ask but I believe they do this to sow seeds of distrust. This request has since been dropped. What I aim to do is to dispel election fraud myths that seem to be running rampant. I had the honor of ...
