Radical Climate Agenda
On 10/7/25, NPR reported that the EPA had cancelled a Biden era program, Solar for All (SFA), along with a $25 million SFA grant to the Hopi Reservation where nearly 3,000 people lack access to electricity and the rest have unreliable electrical service. Funded by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), the grant would’ve supported solar panel installation and battery storage for 600 homes on the reservation.
The Hopi had also counted on IRA tax credits to build a microgrid that would’ve generated enough electricity for the entire reservation, and to fund another large-scale solar project that could’ve turned the Hopi into a major energy provider for northeast Arizona. Along with so many throughout Indian Country, the Hopi were bypassed during energy infrastructure development across the West in the 1920s and 1930s, and these new game-changing projects could’ve provided major economic benefits to one of America’s most disadvantaged tribes.
Asked why these cancellations, the White House called SFA part of the “radical climate agenda” imposed by the left in its “declared war on American energy which shut down beautiful, clean coal plants.” The administration said SFA was “wasteful” but, to me, their actions were just another example of Trump’s gratuitous cruelty.
