Yet Another Anniversary Roe v Wade

A reminder that on June 24 we are seeing yet another anniversary of the overturning of Roe v Wade (June 24, 2022). What does your area have planned? Is your community planning a rally? The Supreme Court ruling in FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine does not change the reality that access to reproductive health care remains under relentless attack from Donald Trump and his MAGA Republican allies. It would be a devastating mistake for voters or members of the media to take away from today’s ruling that medication abortion is now ‘safe’ from MAGA attacks. If given the chance, Donald Trump will ban medication abortion nationwide — in fact, his allies have a plan to do so using executive action and circumvent both the courts and Congress.

In 2016, Donald Trump ran for president promising to appoint a Supreme Court that would overturn Roe v. Wade. Once he got into office, that’s exactly what he did.
Donald Trump’s record on abortion is crystal clear: ○ He has bragged about “proudly being the person responsible” for ending Roe. ○ He says women should be punished for getting reproductive health care.
It is outrageous and unacceptable that this is happening in America – but Trump and his MAGA allies want to make it a reality in all 50 states, with or without the help of Congress.
Trump’has endorsed the nightmare we’re seeing play out in the more than 20 states with abortion bans in effect, the majority of which have no exceptions for rape or incest.
Because of Trump, 1 in 3 women of reproductive age now live under extreme and dangerous bans: ○ Women’s lives put at risk as they’re turned away from emergency rooms, forced to go to court to seek permission for the medical attention they need, and left to travel hundreds of miles for health care. ○ Doctors threatened with prosecution for doing their jobs. ○ Access to fertility treatments at risk for families who are desperately trying to get pregnant.
President Biden and Vice President Harris stand with the vast majority of Americans who support a woman’s right to choose and if given a Democratic Congress, they will restore the protections of Roe in federal law once and for all.
